Brandywine Robotics is a student-centered STEM organization dedicated to inspiring the next generation of engineers, programmers, designers, and leaders through competitive robotics. Serving students throughout southeastern Pennsylvania, our programs provide hands-on experiences that develop technical skills, teamwork, creativity, and confidence.
Since our founding, Brandywine Robotics has grown into one of the region's largest competitive robotics organizations, offering opportunities for elementary, middle, and high school students to explore engineering and technology through real-world challenges.
Our students design, build, program, and compete with robots while learning valuable skills that extend far beyond the competition field.
The purpose of Brandywine Robotics is to provide STEM robotics, educational, scientific, and charitable opportunities for K-12 youth through participation in VEX Robotics and similar events/competitions along with corresponding activities. The long-term interest of Brandywine Robotics is providing educational opportunities to guide youth into STEM based continuing education and careers. Brandywine Robotics is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
We believe that students learn best by doing. Through robotics competitions, outreach programs, mentorship, and teamwork, students gain the confidence to tackle complex challenges and become the innovators and leaders of tomorrow.
Student-Driven Learning – Students take ownership of their teams, designs, and decisions.
Hands-On STEM Education – Engineering, programming, CAD, manufacturing, and design are learned through real projects.
Leadership Development – Students gain experience in communication, project management, and teamwork.
Community Engagement – Members participate in outreach events, demonstrations, and mentoring programs.
Competitive Excellence – Teams compete at local, state, national, and international levels.
Inclusive Opportunities – Programs are designed to welcome students with a wide range of interests and experience levels.
At Brandywine Robotics, students do more than build robots. They build confidence, friendships, and futures.
The VexMen is the VEX V5 Robotics Competition (V5RC) division and VEX IQ Competition (VIQRC) division of Brandywine Robotics. The Vexmen is comprised of approximately 30-35 teams split between V5RC and VIQRC.
In the Vex Robotics Competition, teams of students design, build, program, test, and compete at various levels. Throughout this process, students learn:
Valuable Life Skills such as communication, planning, cooperation, negotiation, time management, and leadership
STEM-related Skills in the areas of electronics, mechanics, pneumatics, programming, designing, documentation, testing, and driving
Brandywine Robotics works with nearly 150 students each year in Downingtown and the surrounding areas, including Downingtown Area School District, West Chester School District, and Owen J. Roberts School District. As a regional leader in the Vex Robotics Competition, we also collaborate with nearly every program in south-eastern Pennsylvania. We offer competitive robotics programs for students as young as 3rd grade all the way through senior year of high school.
Brandywine Robotics provides more than just an educational robotics program. It provides memories, experiences, and opportunities that last a lifetime.
At Brandywine Robotics, our mission extends beyond our own teams. We are committed to strengthening STEM education throughout our community by supporting students, educators, and organizations that share our passion for robotics and engineering.
Through outreach programs, partnerships, workshops, and educational opportunities, we strive to inspire the next generation of innovators and make STEM accessible to all.
Brandywine Robotics has proudly hosted multiple Girl Powered workshops designed to introduce girls to robotics, engineering, and STEM concepts in an engaging and supportive environment.
The Girl Powered initiative encourages all students to embrace diversity, inclusion, and collaboration within STEM fields. Our events highlight the accomplishments of women in engineering and technology while providing hands-on activities that inspire future innovators and leaders.
By showcasing successful women in STEM and creating welcoming opportunities for participation, we hope to empower more students to pursue their interests in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
Founded by a Brandywine Robotics alumnus, the Widener Robotics Club at Widener University in Chester, Pennsylvania, provides students with opportunities to apply classroom knowledge to real-world engineering challenges.
Over the years, the club has competed in the VEX U Robotics Competition, combat robotics events, and autonomous underwater vehicle competitions, giving university students valuable hands-on experience.
Brandywine Robotics is proud to support the club through mentorship, equipment, and technical resources. In return, Widener Robotics Club members volunteer at many of our tournaments and events each year, helping inspire the next generation of students.
Brandywine Robotics has offered a variety of summer camps that introduce students to robotics, programming, computer-aided design (CAD), engineering, and other STEM topics.
These camps serve students ranging from elementary through high school and provide hands-on learning experiences that build confidence, creativity, and technical skills. Whether students are exploring robotics for the first time or expanding existing knowledge, our camps create engaging opportunities to learn, collaborate, and discover new interests.
